Why Russian scientists have listed the Siberian earthquake as a 9.5 event

Posted on December 28, 2011

December 28, 2011 – MOSCOW – The intensity of a powerful earthquake that rocked the southeastern part of Siberia on Tuesday reached 9.5, Russian Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu said at a teleconference in the early hours of Wednesday. “The earthquake’s intensity in the epicenter has been estimated at 9.5. The main threat will come tomorrow morning. As soon as the people wake up, they will see cracks in the walls, stoves, and chimneys,” he said. It was reported earlier that an earthquake reaching 8-9 in the epicenter had been recorded in the Kaa-Khemsky district of Tyva 100 kilometers east of Kyzyl at a depth of 10 kilometers at 7:22 p.m. Moscow time on Tuesday. The earthquake’s magnitude reached 6.7. The tremors were felt in Tyva, Khakasia, the Krasnoyarsk territory and the Irkutsk region. Preliminary reports indicate that the quake did not cause casualties and significant destruction. The population of the Kaa-Khemsky district is about 12,700 people. Emergency Situations Ministry experts are examining communities now. -KYIV

The Russian earthquake scale: The Russian system measures earthquake intensity and the 9.5 of the Siberian quake does not reflect magnitude. The Medvedev-Sponheuer-Karnik scale, also known as the MSK or MSK-64, is a macroseismic intensity scale used to evaluate the severity of ground shaking on the basis of observed effects in an area of the earthquake occurrence. The scale was first proposed by Sergei Medvedev (USSR), Wilhelm Sponheuer (East Germany), and Vít Kárník (Czechoslovakia) in 1964. It was based on the experiences being available in the early 1960s from the application of the Modified Mercalli scale and the 1953 version of the Medvedev scale, known also as the GEOFIAN scale. With minor modifications in the mid-1970s and early 1980s, the MSK scale became widely used in Europe and the USSR. In early 1990s, the European Seismological Commission (ESC) used many of the principles formulated in the MSK in the development of the European Macroseismic Scale, which is now a de facto standard for evaluation of seismic intensity in European countries. MSK-64 is still being used in India, Israel, Russia, and throughout the Commonwealth of Independent States. The Medvedev-Sponheuer-Karnik scale is somewhat similar to the Modified Mercalli (MM) scale used in the United States. The MSK scale has 12 intensity degrees expressed in Roman numerals (to prevent the use of decimals). –Wikipedia

Flame retardant chemical found in US soft drinks

(NaturalNews) A substance patented as a flame retardant and banned as a food ingredient throughout Europe and in Japan is present in 10% of all soft drinks in the US. The December 12, 2011 issue of Environmental Health News reviews the history of this toxic ingredient, including the fact that “extreme soda binges – not too far from what many video gamers regularly consume” have resulted in skin lesions, memory loss and nerve disorders.

December 18, 2011 – LONDON – The end of the world may not be coming, but whatever is coming might as well be the end of the world. And as we walk in this twilight, perhaps at the very least, we would do well to enjoy the sunset while it lasts. MarketWatch’s Paul B. Farrell had an interesting article Tuesday on how America is on the path for a decade from hell. In Farrell’s opinion, this “decade from hell will get worse in 2012.” Farrell portends a coming stock market crash, political dysfunctionality, revolution, and various wars that stem from class differences and commodity clashes between countries in the near future. Farrell’s dire forecasts for the next nine years are quite ominous. Among them include ideas that the “super rich” will continue to spend billions to control Washington culminating in a system where the wealthy have absolute power over everyone else, rising global population will give way to commodity wars throughout the world, class war will spread, and the American form of capitalism will collapse in on itself. Whether or not Farrell realized it at the time, in some ways Farrell’s dark forecast sounds akin to the Great Tribulation. Farrell may have called it a “decade from hell,” but it sounded a bit like a great tribulation. Throw in a little Mayan 2012 prophecy & St. Malachy’s Prophecy of the Popes and Farrell might as well have been writing that the end is nigh. As I wrote previously, some religious circles believe that “during the Great Tribulation much of the Earth would suffer, many would die, the Antichrist would reign supreme instituting severe economic policies culminating in the ‘mark of the beast’ necessary for buying and selling, and the Antichrist would later set himself as a god over the entire planet demanding worship from all Earth’s humans. –Benzinga
Pope’s health in grave decline: People who have spent time with him recently say they found him weaker than they’d ever seen him, seemingly too tired to engage with what they were saying. He no longer meets individually with visiting bishops. A few weeks ago he started using a moving platform to spare him the long walk down St. Peter’s Basilica. Benedict turns 85 in the New Year, so a slowdown is only naturally expected. And given his age and continued rigorous work schedule, it’s remarkable he does as much as he does and is in such good health overall: Just this past week he confirmed he would travel to Mexico and Cuba next spring. But a decline has been noted as Benedict prepares for next weekend’s grueling Christmas celebrations, which kick off two weeks of intense public appearances. And that raises questions about the future of the papacy given that Benedict himself has said popes should resign if they can’t do the job. –NY Daily
According to some, St. Malachy is said to have prophesied every pope down to the end of time. According to the accepted interpretation of the famed prophecy- there is to be only one more pope after Benedict then time will end and Rome will be destroyed by a terrible fire. Benedict’s declining health has ignited new fears that the prophecy of Malachy may be on the cusp of fulfillment.

Big Brother gears up for more civil unrest: new technologies to be deployed to neutralize protestors

December 12, 2011 – LONDON – The technology, developed by a former Royal Marine commando, temporarily impairs the vision of anyone who looks towards the source. It has impressed a division of the Home Office which is testing a new range of devices because of the growing number of violent situations facing the police. The developer, British-based Photonic Security Systems, hopes to offer the device to shipping companies to deter pirates. Similar devices have been used by ISAF troops in Afghanistan to protect convoys from insurgents. The laser, resembling a rifle and known as an SMU 100, can dazzle and incapacitate targets up to 500m away with a wall of light up to three meters squared. It costs £25,000 and has an infrared scope to spot looters in poor visibility. Looking at the intense beam causes a short-lived effect similar to staring at the sun, forcing the target to turn away. ‘The system would give police an intimidating visual deterrent. If you can’t look at something you can’t attack it,” said Paul Kerr, the firm’s managing director, told The Sunday Times. “If police spot someone trying to do something untoward, painting them with this would certainly make them think twice about it,” he said. He said it could also be deployed during hostage rescues. The Home Office has been considering new forms of non-lethal equipment since the August riots, with the limited range of tasers and CS gas leaving a “capability gap.” A Home Office spokesman said scientists at its Centre for Applied Science and Technology believe the use of lasers “has merit” and that it will be piloted by at least one police force. However, they will have to be satisfied the technology does not cause long-term health damage before it can be approved by the Home Secretary.  Other technology being studied includes ‘wireless electronic interceptors’ that can be fired a greater distance than Tasers, and long-range chemical irritant projectiles, the newspaper said. –Telegraph

Preparation and Self Reliance – Limiting Your Dependence on Technology

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2011

Preparation and self reliance becomes more of a routine activity once it has become a part of your normal lifestyle. There are numerous ways you can achieve your goals but almost all will depend on you being able to survive with less technology, a greater dependence on your knowledge and skills and being aware of your own physical limitations. Many people currently live with varying degrees of technology. While a certain amount of technology will be necessary in order to survive, if you truly wish to develop a more independent lifestyle, you will need to limit your dependence on technology. Unfortunately, less technology quite often means additional work and planning is going to be required on your part.
Your lifestyle choice to be more self reliant will depend on a couple of major factors and these factors should be included in your planning. Your ability to become more self reliant will be largely determined in most cases by your skills and physical abilities. It is important to remember that your ability to become more self reliant will be affected more by what you know and can do than the items you have stockpiled.  Realizing that your skills and abilities are your most important resource is critical to becoming more self reliant and less dependent upon technology. Technology has been instrumental in making our lives easier but it has also made us more dependent upon it.
When seeking to become more self reliant, one of the most limiting factors is your physical ability. Even some of the basic tasks of everyday life can be almost impossible to achieve if you have limited physical abilities. How far can you walk if necessary? How big of a load, if any, can you carry at one time?  Or do plan to simply drag it? Limited physical abilities will mean focusing your efforts and planning accordingly to make up for any lack of physical ability on your part. Even simple chores can be labor-intensive and almost impossible to complete without a minimum amount of technology if your physical abilities are limited. Walking requires no dependence on technology but even a simple bicycle may get you a lot farther down the road. If you have physical limitations that limit your abilities, you will need to alter your plans to compensate for deficiencies in this area or increase the level of your physical fitness, if possible.
A lack of skills is another limiting factor that can affect your ability to become more self reliant. Even simple tasks will require rudimentary skill sets in order for you to maintain a self reliant lifestyle. Can you perform simple repairs on basic items or do you need to call a repairman? Or do you simply rush out and buy a replacement? Unfortunately, these options may not always be available to you and they can also be quite costly. Being able to use basic hand tools, perform simple repairs or knowing an alternative strategy to accomplish a task can make a huge difference in your level of self reliance. Quite often you can find a low-tech solution to your problem.
Less dependence on technology can mean that a lot of things will be harder to accomplish, not impossible, just harder. The trick is to remember to work smarter and not harder. A little “brain power” will usually save you a lot of “muscle power”.Got low tech solutions?Staying above the water line!

Planetary and climatic changes on the footsteps of a magnetic field reversal Posted on December 5, 2011

December 5, 2011 – AUSTRALIA – While mainstream science agencies admonish us that the continual degradation of the planet’s magnetic field is no cause for alarm and should induce no significant changes to the mechanics of planet Earth; we can’t help but be concerned about the implications of shifting climatic patterns after witnessing the alarming rise in the number of extreme weather events that have occurred in 2011. Could these events in someway be also associated with Earth’s polarity reversal? The planet’s jet-stream has also become more erratic and is experiencing wild frenzied migrations, resulting in the outbreak of an unprecedented number of extreme weather events that have reaped destruction across the globe. No one knows what the full effects of a magnetic reversal will be on planet Earth since the last such event, according to scientists, occurred 780,000 years ago when no one was around to record the effects of it. NASA, however, has gone to great lengths to assure the public that events connected with polarity reversals are quite benign. Similarly, we might also add, the compounding effects of the Sun and cosmic rays on Earth’s climatic processes during this magnetic disorientation period are also undetermined and unassessed scientific variables. So, is the rise in these extreme weather patterns and natural disasters merely a cyclical consequence of our time or do these events lend themselves to the prophetic warnings from the ancients suggesting major changes have already begun altering the biosphere of the planet we know as Earth?

Extreme wind storms are wreaking havoc on cities across the globe from Colombo, Sri Lanka to Pasadena, California but weather extremes are also occurring on the other side of the globe in Australia. Perth Australia had 57 days over 32 degrees, the longest hot spell since records began in 1897, smashing the average number of hot days of 33.9. Brisbane and the Gabba experienced it driest weather in 29 years. “In the first four days of this summer, Sydney has now failed to reach 23 degrees, making it the coolest start in 44 years,” Weatherzone meteorologist Brett Dutschke said. “The city is on target for its coolest start to summer in 51 years,” Dutschke said. The Washington Post said: “Spring 2011 may well go down in the weather history books as the most extreme on record. From the massive April tornado swarm, to record Mississippi river levels, to extreme drought and wildfires in the Southwest, weather extremes were both violent and relentless, taking a terrible toll on human life and the economy.” – (c) The Extinction Protocol
